Major techniques/methods that I have specialised in are: Structural Equation Modelling and Factor Analysis (AMOS/SPSS and SmartPLS for partial least squares method), Design of Experiments (Minitab and JMP) and Quality Control/SPC (Minitab).
The on-going research projects in which my PhD and Masters students and I are currently (2013/2014) engaged with include the Toyota Production System (me and my colleagues), DoE in Lean (a PhD student), Performance Measurement (a PhD student), QMS Standards (an MPhil student/just enrolled), Laboratory Quality Control (an MQS student). I also co-supervise PhDs.
I am an electrical engineer-turned-lecturer in quality management. Prior to taking up my lectureship in quality assurance in early 2009 and doctoral studies (2004-2008) which preceded that, I worked in electrical utility companies in Asia and the Middle east for 19 years specialising in gas and steam turbine operations, quality assurance, auditing (quality), and project management.
As a lecturer, I teach and research in many areas: industrial research techniques, statistics, quality control and quality improvement, DoE and healthcare operations management. My hobbies are watching cricket, rugby, travelling and working in my workshop whenever I can!
