Encompassing a broad range of disciplines, including game design, art, audio, coding, and production. Game development is a field that truly embraces interactive screen media.

You will develop skills in critical thinking, logic, design, 3D modelling and texturing, animation, and team-based production while building fun, engaging, and challenging worlds, experiences, and adventures.

You’ll be ideating, designing, and developing games. Using industry-standard software and real time engines and techniques, you'll will work through game design, art and aesthetics and programming to create unique and original experiences for desktop, console and mobile platforms.

You’ll have access to top-of-the-line computing, consoles, VR/AR devices and work with industry standard software.

Planning information

Full-time study is recommended. You’ll take 120 credits per year or 60 credits per semester.

The Game Development major in the Bachelor of Screen Arts with Honours consists of 180 credits.

Work to an advanced technical, creative and professional standard in a collaborative production environment to complete a Major Project. Students will put into production the projects developed in the Major Project Development course managing deadlines and schedules to ensure project completion.

Students gain a professional knowledge and develop expertise in a range of creative research practices, tools and techniques for organising large scale productions. Students will apply these skills toward planning and communicating an Advanced Production Project.

Students will produce and finalise an advanced work demonstrating highly executed production standards informed by their research.
