Raj Prasanna secures significant project funding for community-led earthquake sensor projects

In a win for JCDR, Senior Lecturer Raj Prasanna has recently secured significant and sought-after funding for interlinking projects to conduct the first two phases of investigation into earthquake early-warning (EEW) systems. The projects, given the enthusiastic green light by both EQC's Biannial Grant and the Massey University Strategic Investment fund (SIF), will look to explore low-cost, community-based, micro seismic (MS) solutions for EEW, engaging and empowering the communities that will benefit from and maintain the technology, while also beginning to build the professional community of practice needed to grow and sustain the project.

Well done, Raj!
