This qualification is designed for experienced professionals (7+ years, with at least 3 in management), and can provide a pathway into the Executive MBA, even if you don't hold an undergraduate degree (special admission applies).

You'll choose 4 courses from the first year of the EMBA. Complete them in as little as 2 semesters, or spread your study over 2 years.

Each course runs for 6 weeks and combines online learning with a 2-day weekend block course held at the Auckland Albany Campus or an Auckland Airport Hotel for those travelling.

If you achieve a B- average or higher across your 4 courses, you can apply to transfer these credits into the Executive MBA.

Course code: 295705 Engage, Motivate, Persuade: Global Leadership Communication in Action 15 credits

Students will develop practical and critical skills in key facets of effective executive communication, including persuasion, motivation, and responding to disparate views. Students will develop their understanding of their own communication style and develop skills in planning and delivering impactful presentations in diverse contexts. Practical insights into gaining and retaining attention and responding to resistance will be developed.

Admission to Massey

All students must meet university entrance requirements to be admitted to the University.

Specific requirements

This is a selected entry qualification. This means there are a number of extra requirements you must meet. 

To enter the Postgraduate Certificate in Business (Business Administration) you will:

  • have been awarded or qualified for a relevant bachelor’s degree, or equivalent; and
  • have at least seven years' business experience, at least 3 of which must be at management level
  • have been selected into the qualification on the basis of a selection process which may include a written application, interview and practical exercises.

Documentation and interview

  • copies of all official academic transcripts for studies taken at all universities other than Massey University and/or professional qualifications
  • a full CV showing at least seven years of work experience including at least 3 years of management level experience; 
  • a comprehensive statement of personal goals including aspirations and expectations;
  • a passport-sized photo for identification purposes;

You may be asked to take part in a selection interview or provide additional information for the selection panel. 

The work experience requirement ensures that you can contribute meaningfully to group discussions and debates from a position of experience and knowledge. Applicants without this level of experience are unlikely to be admitted.

Indicative fees for 2026

$3,200 per 15-credit course. Fees include eBooks, learning materials, and catering during workshops but exclude non-tuition fees. Please note that the fees are indicative and may change. Your exact fees will show once you select your courses. Annual non-tuition fees also apply.

Eligible domestic students may qualify for a student loan.
