Pharos Popup Client reinstallation

As part of the Pharos 8.3 server upgrade occurring on 14/07/13, the internal FollowMe queue will be renamed, which will cause the Pharos Popup Client software installed on client devices to stop working.

If you are not sure of what the Pharos Popup Client is, or never installed it before, it is likely you will not need to do anything.

To get the Pharos Popup Client working again, the software will need to either be reconfigured or reinstalled, depending on the operating system.

Windows

  1. Browse to: http://tur-printdb2.massey.ac.nz/uniprint/Packages.asp
  2. Download and install the relevant Popup package

Mac OS X

  1. Open System Preferences and click on the Print & Fax icon
  2. Select the existing FollowMe popup printer and click the (–) button to remove it
  3. Now click the (+) button to add a printer
  4. Click on the Advanced button in the toolbar. (Note: If the Advanced button is not in the toolbar, right click the toolbar and select Customize Toolbar. Now drag the Advanced icon onto the toolbar.)
  5. From the Type field, select Pharos Print Server.
  6. In the URL field, enter the following URL: popup://tur-followme1.massey.ac.nz/FollowMe OR popup://tur-followme2.massey.ac.nz/FollowMe
  7. In the Name field, enter: FollowMe
  8. From the Print Using or Use field, click Select Printer Software.
  9. In the search field type 5575 and then choose FX ApeosPort-IV C5575
  10. Click Add. The new Popup queue will now show up in the list of printers.
