Develop leading edge business skills
Develop leading edge business skills through a unique qualification closely connected to practice. Massey’s MBA is unique in New Zealand – you can choose your specialisation option and your delivery mode, either full-time on campus or part-time online.
The Massey University Master of Business Administration (MBA) gives you the unique ability to choose when and where you study.
You can gain an MBA by studying full-time for a year, or studying completely by distance (online study) over a longer period. There is a unique option for you to choose between the two delivery options and to take between 1-5 years to complete the qualification – giving you flexibility and choices to suit your needs.
The shorter one-year full-time option allows you to go back to your career more quickly and move faster into a corporate career.
The Massey MBA focuses on giving you the skills to lead with integrity that you can immediately apply in the workforce: You’ll develop your strategic thinking skills, problem analysis and solving capabilities, technology and cultural competencies.
You will learn from business practitioners who will be presenting, mentoring and creating real-world assignments. Your learning will also draw from the most recent research.
The full-time MBA also offers the opportunity of a workplace-integrated experience in a New Zealand firm, or an overseas firm with a New Zealand presence.
We offer specialisations of Business Sustainability, Digital Transformation or International Marketing. These give your qualification a clear differentiation from non-specialised MBAs. Availability depends on whether you study online or on-campus.
The MBA in both modes features scheduled lecture sessions (lectures delivered online in the MBA online), group activities, guest speakers from industry, mentors and full-support.
Massey University has decades of experience and specialist academic support services for on campus and distance learning. You’ll have access to scheduled interaction sessions, connecting you with MBA staff and lecturers - and your classmates. Furthermore the Career Accelerator specially offered to MBA and EMBA students will prepare you for making your next career move.
Our MBA online option is New Zealand's only MBA designed in partnership with the award-winning Wiley Education Services.
You'll get access to world-class online technology 24/7 and engaging learning methods. This includes online classes and team-meetings, along with forums and group-work. This allows you to network with and learn directly from your peers and faculty. You'll get access to insights from businesses leaders across New Zealand.
If you have 7+ years full-time work experience (with three of those in management) you may be interested in our Executive MBA programme.

During the Massey MBA we were taught knowledge, but more importantly we were taught how to apply that knowledge in a systematic and practical way. Learning to think critically meant I knew what to do when I was in new situations. I knew the right questions to ask, to help me decide which steps to take.
