Dr Dongwan Choo BA, MA, MA, PhD

Senior Lecturer

School of Accountancy, Economics and Finance

I am an international economist. My field of interest lies in International Finance, International Trade, and Open Macroeconomics. My recent research focuses on the long-run relationship between economic growth and international capital flows, spatial consumption risk sharing, exchange rate predictability, and the impact of trade cost on consumption risk sharing. I received a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) in 2023.

I believe that students can come away with strong analytical and problem-solving skills by learning economics. That is why I am passionate about teaching various economics courses. I am presently teaching Macroeconomics (178.200, undergraduate) and Research and Analytics in Economics and Finance (125.785, postgraduate) at Massey University. I taught undergraduate courses at UCSC, such as Introductory Macroeconomics, Intermediate Microeconomics, and International Trade.

I am from the Republic of Korea (South Korea). I love listening to music (of course, but not only K-pop), watching movies and sports, and playing tennis and video games.
