Teaching Statement

As a teacher, I believe we are responsible for supporting students' mental as well as intellectual wellbeing. This belief is deeply rooted in my own experiences as an international student. Arriving in a new country alone, I understood the challenges of adapting to a different educational system and culture. These experiences have shaped my teaching philosophy, driving me to ensure that every student feels a sense of belonging and support, which aligns with the core values of the Paerangi teaching and learning plan at Massey.

In my classrooms, I strive to create an atmosphere where students feel safe to express their ideas and ask questions. Serving as the NZ Councillor for Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) - a global professional accounting association resides in Australia and NZ, I am dedicated to community engagement and the continuity of the accounting profession. My efforts have been recognized through the Massey Business School Excellence in Teaching Award and the Vice-Chancellor's Teaching Excellence Award in 2024.

Graduate Supervision Statement

I am passionate about working with Master and Doctoral students and guide them through the research journey. My students come from a diverse background: some are international and others are domestic students. Each student is unique and therefore I adjust my style to fit for the student's needs. My philosophy is that students need to be passionate about their research topic. As they will drive it, it is extremely important that they know why they want to do post-graduate research. The supervisory team always work collectively to bring our strengths together for our students’ best interests.
