Impact of human colonisation history on New Zealand Avian diversity

Human activity has transformed earth's ecology and exerted new selection forces on entire species communities. A crucial outcome of human societies has been dramatically reshaped biodiversity. Mr Amiot used New Zealand avifauna (birds of a particular region, habitat, or geological period) and its human histories to investigate the response of biodiversity in relation to anthropogenic activities and their ecological implications. Using the two major phases of anthropogenic alterations of New Zealand and on its avifauna, Mr Amiot's research provided valuable insight into understanding the potential importance of species' past-experiences with the human and its implication for ecological and evolutionary research and conservation strategies and in the maintenance of ecosystem services.
