In her creative practice research project, Mrs Richards proposed that books may act as performative artefacts and simultaneously discovered the narrative potential of fragmented fictional texts. The hybrid processes used during this research project incorporated artistic practice and fiction writing. Research was presented across different modes – print publication, live art/performance, conference presentations, articles/essays, workshops, installations, and readings. The outcome was a collection of physically transformed books which stood as hybrid art/fiction artefacts and a vintage suitcase containing these books functioned as a travelling library. When experienced by individual readers in quiet and uninterrupted spaces, the books provided a unique and performative reading experience.
