Sustainable supply management in global supply chains has received much attention from industry leaders, academics, and policy makers worldwide. However, scant attention has been paid to investigating the implementation of sustainability practices from the perspective of multi-tier suppliers. Mr Nath investigated why and how Bangladeshi multi-tier apparel suppliers implement sustainability practices in their supply chains. His research employed a qualitative research methodology, drawing on data from interviews with seven owners and 39 managers of Bangladeshi multi-tier apparel suppliers and their 15 key stakeholders. He found that the level of implementation of sustainability practices was increasingly progressing within first-tier suppliers. However, second-tier and third-tier suppliers either occasionally adopted social practices or symbolically implemented environmental practices. His research contributed to theory by expounding a holistic sustainable supply management implementation framework for multi-tier suppliers. The findings of his research has provided significant implications for practitioners who seek to improve multi-tier suppliers’ sustainability practices.
