Ms. Civilize investigated the impact of three political aspects on stock return dynamics in emerging markets. Her findings indicate that Pacific Basin markets are more responsive to political risk than any other emerging markets. Moreover, military returns’ premiums are found for the stock markets of Pakistan and Thailand and the shifts from civilian to military government in these two countries do not appear to increase the risk level of investment portfolios. She also found that in the case of Thailand, the level of corporate political connectedness is a factor in stock pricing and is also an important determinant of firms’ financial performance.
