Thesis Title
How do professional diplomats understand business diplomacy? And what knowledge, skills and practices do diplomats possess that can be of use in business diplomacy?

Mr Alammar investigated business diplomacy from the perspective of senior managers and diplomats. In one of the earliest empirical studies in business diplomacy, twenty-one official diplomats, CEOs, and businesspeople were interviewed about their perspectives on business diplomacy and its core elements. Data were analysed using grounded theory methodology. The findings indicate that business diplomacy is understood as a set of multiple integrated qualities concerned with professionally and systematically managing and influencing multiple stakeholders to advance business interests. Mr Alammar's research findings led to the development of an integrative theory and framework that expands our understanding of business diplomacy and other related fields. The framework demonstrates the practicability and applicability of business diplomacy in management and business. The study’s implications suggest that businesses incorporate business diplomacy as a strategic tool at the managerial and organisational levels, and that universities make business diplomacy a part of the business and management curriculum.
