Mr Easden investigated how therapists treating depression and their patients work together to better understand the patient’s problems and how this conceptualisation of the problems is put into practice in homework tasks to extend therapy. Mr Easden’s research was based on 28 patients given up to 20 sessions of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). He identified particular therapist behaviours that were related to a greater reduction in depression levels.
