Thesis Title
Data-parallel Structural Optimisation in Agent-based Modelling

Agent-based modelling is an important scientific methodology which has been emerging in recent years. Agent-based models are widespread, and have described systems successfully in a range of disciplines with invaluable elegance and simplicity including; microbiology, ecology, social science, and medicine. Sometimes the formulation of an agent-based model is also difficult, and the technology to employ powerful optimisers and machine learning techniques to assist in the process have not been adequate until recently. Mr. Husselmann investigated the use of graphics processing units, optimisation algorithms and domain-specific languages in order to propose a new agent-based model programming language with a built-in optimiser to assist in the modelling process.
