Mr Abd Latif a protocol design for real time multimedia communication over high speed wireless networks. The growth of interactive multimedia (IMM) applications is one of the major driving forces behind the swift evolution of next-generation wireless networks where the traffic is expected to be varying and widely diversified. Mr Abd Latif developed a Medium Access Control protocol by optimizing the contention and contention-free periods in the superframe according to the QoS requirements of the traversing interactive multimedia applications traffic. Critical quality of service metrics such as throughput, delay and jitter were taken into consideration during the development of the protocol. Mr Abd Latif’s proposed protocol which is capable of implementation based on standards, demonstrates significant performance improvement over the current schemes supporting real time mixed traffic environment.
