Interest in the retirement planning activities of the post-World War II “Baby Boomers” continues to grow as the first of this generation approach retirement age. However, the nature of their plans and the factors that can influence their preparatory behaviours are not widely understood. In light of these issues, Mr Noone developed a multi-stage measure of retirement planning and showed how certain psychological, social, and economic variables may affect each stage of the retirement planning process. These findings will have implications for retirement policy aimed at protecting the long-term well-being of future retirees.
