Julie Houghton-katipa M. Ed

Lecturer

Institute of Education

I am a Lecturer in the Institute of Education. I teach in the Postgraduate Specialist Teacher programme and coordinate the Early Intervention endorsement. My professional background is in early childhood education and Learning Support, where I have worked in various teaching and leadership roles. I have provided pedagogical leadership in early childhood, early intervention, and learning support in multiple contexts within the sector in which I teach and research. Before coming to Massey, I worked as a National Specialist Lead at the Ministry of Education, where I had the opportunity to contribute to exciting projects such as He Māpuna te Tamaiti. My PhD research topic combines my interests in children's social and emotional development with my commitment to supporting bicultural practice.
