Conservation of kiwi, New Zealand’s national bird, relies on human intervention, leading to threats from parasites that cause severe disease and mortality. Currently, the identification of these parasites hinders our ability to improve kiwi management protocols. Mrs Coker provided novel morphological and genetic descriptions, thereby providing crucial data for improving the welfare and conservation success of these iconic species.
