Thesis Title

With the introduction of NCEA, drama has moved from the margins of secondary education to being a recognised subject for university entrance. Ms Brooks explored the assimilation of the creative and explorative nature of drama education into a national system of assessment and the associated tensions. To do this she collected interview data of drama teachers’ responses to these challenges. She also examined historical approaches to drama pedagogy in relation to contemporary national curriculum and assessment requirements.
