Dr Marta Rychert PhD

Senior Research Officer

Doctoral Supervisor
SHORE Centre

In addition to her research in drug policy and harm reduction, Dr Rychert developed an interdisciplinary research portfolio in health professionals’ misconduct and disciplinary processes for other regulated professions (lawyers and teachers). Her research in this space aims to uncover structural drivers of professional misconduct, and work towards an improved model of rehabilitation after disciplinary proceedings.

Marta is a Senior Research Officer at the SHORE & Whariki Research Centre. Her work lies at the intersection of health, policy and law, with particular focus on  legal markets for cannabis (recreational and medical cannabis) and other psychoactive products, including new psychoactive substances (NPS, “legal highs”) and alcohol. She analysed implementation of drug and cannabis policy reforms in Europe, New Zealand, Canada and the Caribbean. She is a co-Editor-in-Chief of international journal "Drugs, Habits and Social Policy". Prior to her academic appointments in New Zealand she worked in the European Union Drugs Agency (EMCDDA) in Portugal.
