Research Expertise
Research Interests
I am a PhD candidate researching how to facilitate interactions which enable people with dementia and their friends to maintain and extend their connectedness. By privileging the voices of people with dementia and their friends, and using their experiences and wishes as the platform for developing interventions, I will make a novel contribution in developing person-led interventions for this population.
This will involve person-centred support and interventions, reduced social stigma and increased meaningful engagement. The proposed research will provide important resources in this arena including co-designed interventions as well as providing a platform for the voices of people affected by dementia to be heard.
Research work to support people with dementia to live successfully in the community is much needed. As the population ages, the incidence of dementia increases exponentially and experts in the psychosocial needs of people with dementia in the community are in increasing demand.
