Eduardo Sandoval Cruz MAgrSc, PGDipAgrSc
Technical Officer - Precision Agriculture
School of Food and Advanced TechnologyMr. Eduardo Sandoval came to New Zealand in 2007 from Chile. He came with a Bachelor degrees in Agricultural Science and other in Business Management. In 2012 he undertake a Postgraduate Diploma in Agriscience. This degree was focused on seed science, seed technology, soil nutrient management (Overseer programme), and Geographic Information System (GIS) at Massey University, New Zealand. In 2014 he was awarded with a Master’s degree in AgriScience, mayor in Horticulture. His project investigated ways of controlling blind seed disease in endophytic perennial ryegrass crops. The objectives were firstly to identify a range of fungicides that may successfully control Gloeotinia temulenta; and secondly assessing if the treatments interfere with the transmission of endophyte from the plant to the new seed generation. He was supervised by Phil Rolston (AgResearch), Craig McGil (Massey University) and Robert Southward (Massey University). Currently he is working for the Institute of Agriculture and Environment (IAE), New Zealand Centre for Precision Agriculture, Massey University, with Professor Ian Yule as a team leader.

Research Interests
Relationship between soil and grass through the use of high precision agriculture technology.
Sustainable nutrient management.
Precision Agriculture.
Currently working in a programme from Ravensdown and MPI (PGP), where Massey and AgResearch are research partners. This project is aimed to improve the profitability of hill country sheep and beef farming productivity in a sustainable way. This throughout a more efficient and more precise use of fertilizers by using remote sensing and imaging.
