Doctoral Supervisor School of People, Environment and PlanningShine's research has focused on how an illiberal state like North Korea creates the international as a space of politics. Other research areas include non-western IR theory; intercultural relations; visuality and aesthetics; postcolonial feminist theory; and critical/creative methods. Her current book-length research examines Asia-Africa relations through North Korean cultural diplomacy projects and political theory. She co-edits the book series Creative Interventions in Global Politics with Rowman and Littlefield, and serves as co-Editor in Chief of International Feminist Journal of Politics (2022-2025).
