Dr Chandana Siriwardana BSc, MEng, PhD

Dr. Chandana Siriwardana is a senior lecturer at Massey University's School of Built Environment. He has an impressive track record of research work published in high-ranked international journals, and has presented his findings at numerous peer-reviewed international conferences. Dr. Siriwardana has extensive experience in international disaster and construction management research projects, having participated in several research projects funded by Erasmus+ (EU), EPSRC (UK), and GCRF (UK).

One of his notable achievements includes collaborating with the Ministry of Health in Sri Lanka to adapt the WHO "Safe Hospitals" initiative and assess the resilience of hospitals. He also evaluated the early warning dissemination process and worked closely with the Disaster Management Centre of Sri Lanka to develop a platform for managing stakeholders during emergencies and disasters. In addition, Dr. Siriwardana partnered with construction firms to enhance their performance and productivity.

Dr. Siriwardana earned an Honours degree in Civil Engineering (BSc Engineering) from the University of Moratuwa in Sri Lanka, a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering specializing in Project Management from the University of Calgary in Canada, and a Master's degree in Civil Engineering specializing in Coastal Engineering from the University of Tokyo in Japan. During his time in Japan, he was awarded the Monbukagakusho Scholarship. Prior to joining Massey University, Dr. Siriwardana served as a senior lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Moratuwa in Sri Lanka.

Dr. Chandana Siriwardana is an educator at Massey University's School of Built Environment, renowned for his extensive involvement in disaster and construction management research projects. He has participated in various initiatives funded by the Erasmus+ (EU), EPSRC (UK), and GCRF (UK) funds, and worked closely with the Ministry of Health in Sri Lanka on the "Safe Hospitals" campaign, contributing to the assessment of Sri Lankan hospital resilience. Dr. Siriwardana has also evaluated early warning dissemination processes and helped develop a platform for managing stakeholders during crises.
