I hold a PhD from Scuola Interpolitecnica di Dottorato, Politecnico di Bari, Politecnico di Milano and Politecnico di Torino (Italy). During my PhD, I have investigated evacuee decision-making by using discrete choice modelling. This goal was achieved by analysing data from stated preferences (i.e. Virtual Reality Experiments) and revealed preferences (i.e. Real and Virtual Reality Experiments).

 My studies/research embed:

I have experience in Agent Based Modelling, Evacuation Modelling and CFD using several tools: MATLAB, Unity, FDS+Evac, Pathfinder, STEPS, and Simulex.

I have published several papers on Evacuation Modelling, Human Behavior in Disasters (e.g. fires, bush-fires, and earthquakes), Serious Games and Virtual Reality as you can see on my Publications page. At the moment I am also reviewer for many International Journals in different fields, such as fire, safety and simulation research, applied mathematics and transportation modelling (e.g.  please visit my website for a comprehensive list: www.lovreglio.info). My publications are the result of collaborations with several universities, institutions and companies.

I am an expert in BIM, VR, and AR with years of developing and testing new technologies.

I am a Senior Lecturer teaching BIM and Building Innovation Tools such as Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality.

Project Title: Evacuee Tracking using Kinects

This project aims at developing an automatic system that can detect evacuees and measure their speed and densities while moving toward a safe place. This project uses smart cameras (i.e. Microsoft Kinects) and Artificial Intelligence to record and analyze data in real-time.
