Dr Andrew Cartmill PhD

Trevor Ellett Senior Lecturer in Grassland Science

Doctoral Supervisor
School of Agriculture and Environment

Andrew D. Cartmill is the Trevor Ellett Senior Lecturer in Grassland Science at Massey University, New Zealand. His current research focuses on pasture-based livestock systems, integrating grassland ecology, forage quality, and soil-plant-animal interactions to enhance productivity, resilience, and environmental performance. He adopts systems-oriented and interdisciplinary approaches that link biophysical processes with farm management and policy-relevant outcomes, particularly in relation to climate mitigation, nutrient management, and ecosystem services. Andrew’s work contributes to national and international research networks and emphasizes the translation of environmental plant physiology and agroecology into decision making frameworks for sustainable production from resilient agriculture systems.
