Dr Svetla Sofkova-Bobcheva PhD

Senior Lecturer in Horticulture Production

Doctoral Supervisor
School of Agriculture and Environment

Svetla is a Senior Lecturer in Production Horticulture at the School of Agriculture and Environment. Prior to joining Massey Svetla was a Senior Scientist/Breeder at Vegetable Crops Research Institute in Plovdiv, Bulgaria where she led the legume (green beans and peas) breeding programme for cultivar development and germplasm maintenance.

Her research interests lie in the area of plant breeding with a focus on horticultural crops and researches to understand how the genetic potential of a variety could be fully expressed by cultural and agrnomical menas.

Svetla is teaching production horticulture to undergraduate students and plant breeding for postgraduate students.
