What is it like?

All students have the right to access education and have their individual needs met, and as classrooms become more diverse, inclusive education becomes more challenging.

The Master of Education (Inclusive Education) is an advanced level professional degree for teachers working in the field of inclusive and special education within the school and wider education sector. The degree will provide you with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to support teachers and students to succeed In an inclusive education system.

Your qualification options

Please note that the Master of Education does not qualify you to be a teacher in New Zealand. If you want to be a teacher, you will also need to take a postgraduate teaching qualification. Please explore your options in our education pathways tool.

A good fit if you:

  • Already have a bachelor’s degree and some professional or teaching experience
  • Want to support the inclusion of all children in the classrooms and meet their diverse learning needs
  • Have a particular topic relating to diverse learning that you would like to explore in more depth
  • Enjoy being up-to-date with the latest developments in special and inclusive education theory and practice
